this park is definitely worth coming to! (even if you’ve seen a lot of mountains)

wildlife: i saw a herd of like at least 100 elk traveling through the forest near the road!!! I also saw a mother moose and her young. a few deer with large horns too. and a sheep near sheep lake in the middle of the day. this may be the best wildlife viewing i’ve been through compared to yellowstone, badlands, and grand teton.

views: the mountain byway is steep & rly amazing to see. you are almost level with the clouds which is crazy! you can see the alpine tundra up close & have plenty of viewing spots.

the only thing i’m not crazy about is having to secure a timed reservation to enter the park & you cannot be a little early. although tickets reset everyday it is still hard to get times in the early morning because the sell out within 5 minutes. also, i couldnt get access to bear lake because the times for that sold out even quicker unless it was late in the afternoon. i understand why there are reservations tho.

Awesome park. This is a beautiful park with incredible mountain trails for all ages and levels with bonus trout filled lakes if that's your thing. Had a blast. Third time here and still planning on going back.
